Student Trainee Exchange Programme (STEP) is a trainee exchange programme that enables law students and young lawyers to gain first hand experience of the substantive and procedural law of another country. It is a great opportunity for ELSA members to gain practical skills that they might be lacking during their studies. The traineeships are between 2 weeks and 18 months and can take place in any law related area. Offering a Traineeship is a very simple yet effective way for your office to attain qualified trainees and to receive new impulses to your office. The Student Trainee Exchange Programme of ELSA offers your office the opportunity to retain law students with high qualifications from all over the Europe as trainees in your offices. Simply by filling out a form indicating your preferences or requirements ELSA will provide candidates through its extensive European network that match the criteria you require.
“Our law firm has had only one experience with STEP. Last year we provided a traineeship for a hungarian graduate. It is difficult to make any conclusions on the basis of one experience, but I would say that STEP met my expectations. The expectations were to bring a foreign element into our office, because we are a Czech office. I think it was a good experience and we decided to offer another STEP traineeship this sumer. We really recomend STEP!“
