Recommendation of ELSA

"I am pleased to recommend the European Law Students' Association.

Founded in 1981 ELSA now has local groups in 41 European countries and is the largest law students association in the world. It is emphasising on the quality of legal education, international co operation and the role of lawyers in the world.

As may be expected ELSA gives due attention to basic human rights. It also concerns itself with areas of the law not ordinarily covered by law schools. Its international Moot Court Competition on WTO law is an example.

It is run by the students themselves. Those involved get invaluable early experience in financial responsibility and management in general.

ELSA's international nature is an important feature of its work. Members have the opportunity at regular meetings of working with and getting to know law students and young lawyers of different countries and cultures.

This early experience of international cooperation will benefit the young lawyers themselves and, as they become leaders in their communities, benefit the wider world too.

In short ELSA benefits its own members and is also making a significant contribution to the well being of society as a whole."
