Deepened cooperation with the Asian Law Students’ Association

On the 16th December 2009 ELSA and ALSA have signed a Memorandum of Understanding which entered into force at the beginning of the year 2010. From now on ALSA has become Partner Law Students’ Association for ELSA and both associations are looking forward to achieving a new level of the cooperation between them.

The current Memorandum is the result of negotiations started between ALSA and ELSA in October 2009, actively continued during the International Council Meeting in Sinaia, Romania where 5 delegates from ALSA were present, and finalized in December 2009 with signing of the cooperation document – Memorandum of Understanding. According to its preamble both organizations recognize mutual interest in establishing and developing the cooperation with an aim to give to their members a broader outlook on legal systems of the world and to enhance exchange of knowledge and experience among law students and young lawyers from Europe and Asia.

The Memorandum  provides for implementing a better communication between ELSA and ALSA, mutual promotion of events, cooperation within the international traineeship exchange programme as well as setting frames for the future developments such as joint initiatives within the ELSA Moot Court Competition and Law Reviews of the associations.

ELSA and ALSA are not going to stop on the achieved results and will constantly work on the improvement of the cooperation as ELSA is already expecting to welcome a delegation from ALSA at the next International Council Meeting in Malta.
