The highest decision making body of ELSA is the International Council. The International Council represents the members of ELSA further represented by the National Boards. Its decisions are binding on the entire organisation and every national group of ELSA is responsible to further regulate the decisions made by The International Council in their national regulations and activities.
The decisions of the International Council are compiled to the Statutes and Standing Orders of ELSA as well as to the Council Meeting Decision Book of ELSA International comprising together all the decisions drawn by the International Council of ELSA.
The highest executive body of ELSA is called the International Board. The headquarters of ELSA International that works also as the main office of the International Board is located in the heart of Europe, Brussels, Belgium. The International board works as the international secretariat of the association.
The International Board’s main responsibilities are to represent ELSA, to carry out and be responsible for the day to day running and management of ELSA, to promote and supervise ELSA’s fields of activity, to advance the aims and efficiency of ELSA as well as executing and implementing Council decisions.
ELSA International is registered as an association in the Netherlands and the International Board is the official representative body of ELSA being led by the President of ELSA International.
